Clive Staples Lewis was a Belfast born British writer, 1898 to 1963. He taught English literature at both Oxford University (Magdalen College) and later at Cambridge University (Magdalene College). He is known for his theological writings, Mere Christianity and the Screwtape Letters, but he is perhaps best known as the author of The Chronicles of Narnia. Lewis was a close friend of J R R Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings.

In Belfast his memory is marked by C S Lewis Square, close to where he grew up, from which a pathway takes us to a series of sculptures of creatures from The Chronicles of Narnia. It is believe that CS Lewis got his inspiration for Narnia from the Mourne Mountains in Co Down.

Photographs that follow depict art sculptures of Aslan the Lion, the White Witch, Mr Tumnus, The Beavers from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
